Standalone VR headset (for example, Meta Quest 3) is cheaper than a good computer; a real chemistry lab is more expensive than a VR kit.
We understand that and we don’t pretend to replace the real chemistry lab. But there are multiple reasons to use that in addition to the real lab or to create the opportunity where it was impossible before. Examples: safety reasons (risk-free environment), no dedicated place to conduct the real experiments, no staff and/or resources to maintain the real lab. Vic’s Studio supports, not replaces, the real experiments.
The simplest way to control is to run the cast from the headset to the flat display (laptop, TV, etc) - all the major headsets support this function
Controlling 10+ screens simultaneously can be challenging, however, after several sessions with Vic’s Science Studio teachers usually don’t need to follow the screens - abrupt movements of the student in the headset are a sign of improper use of the lab (throwing flasks etc.)

We did that intentionally by the following reasons:
- Headsets lack headphones - it’s additional and not convenient to use
- The primary mode of use for our app is classroom mode, simultaneous around production from multiple headsets would cause classroom cacophony. Also, in this case interaction with the teacher becomes more difficult.
Color rendering varies between headsets models so it’s impossible to fit them all, however we are open to adapting.
For the moment the content is not tailored to specific school programs as it requires a lot of additional work due to the curriculum differences. However, the tasks can be adjusted if needed upon request. More info here.
Due to the architecture of the platform the main interface will remain in English. However, the new tasks can be created in local language if we see significant demand for that.
Vic’s Studio doesn’t collect any personal data in the app - we don’t ask any personal information during the account creation and use. The user's behavior is logged, but it is associated with the account only.
Currently, multiple user mode is not supported. This might seem like a disadvantage; however, in real life, unlike many other professional activities, the majority of lab work is performed individually as well, making this experience similar to a real chemistry lab.
Currently, Vic's Science Studio is not available in the official application store for Meta devices. However, in some cases, it's possible to download the app directly to your headset from the official stores like the internal Pico Business store or the ManageXR app library - this confirms the safety of our application.
